Hate Inactive People? They May Be More Intelligent Than You

There are broadly 2 categories of human beings, one is brainy active, and the other is more involved in physical activities. The ones that involve themselves more into physical activities are often called as active people, but, they tend to read and think less. While the others that we call inactive people paying lesser heed towards physical exertion are more active on the brain part and can actually be more intelligent people.

To some extent, all of us are lazy and being lazy is considered appalling. Most of us have a perception that people who sit around doing nothing all day are non-productive. Most of the nerds are shown to be sitting around, reading or just thinking.

However, a recent research has proved that the brainy people are often physically inactive people and spend most of their time lazing around. As per the research, the non-thinkers are more prone to boredom. This is the reason why they seek out to physical activities to stimulate their mind. On the contrary, those who like to pre-occupy their brains, seek for seclusion so that they have plentiful time to explore their own thoughts. This is why the saying: “All universal principles are idle fancies”. Apparently, boredom is a great tool for developing your imagination and creativity.

Another idea is that the more you strain yourself of the physical activities, the lesser of it will be available to fulfill other big plans. The brain develops more if it is used more. On the other hand, the aging increases and memory falls if brain is over stressed. Still, it is seen that people who are less active physically may perform the assigned tasks with ease without panicking. This is where being lazy may assist in living a healthy and longer life.

The research was carried out on a group of students by researchers of the Florida Gulf Coast University. It was carried out on a group of 60 candidates. The participants were made to wear a device on their wrists. The device was capable of monitoring the level of activity. The results drawn from the data stream of the devices showed that the thinkers were less active than the non-thinkers. The statistics of the research were said to be highly significant.

A famous quote from Bill Gates goes like this: “I find some lazy person to do a tough job, just because a lazy person will always find an easy way to do it”. Lazy employees work on optimizing, automating and simplifying the tasks at hand. Their primary focus is on completing the task at hand effectively without wasting time on non-important activities. There are many examples of lazy or physically inactive people achieving great heights. The research and observation indicate that lazy people may be more intelligent people than their more active counterparts.

But, it should not encourage you to go lazy and stop straining yourself physically and perspire less or not at all. Physical activity is very important from health point of view. Sitting all the time thinking and pondering to evolve as future Einstein overnight will only make you go obese and thus be vulnerable to many more ailments. So even if you are brainy and counted under more intelligent people, do make sure you have enough of bodily movements every day.
