Zika Virus is an infection carried by a pathogen that causes the Zika Fever. Spread by the bite of an infected Aedea or Aedes mosquito, this Virus causes Zika Fever in the infected person. The name, Zika Virus, comes from the place where the virus was isolated for the very first time, the Zika Forest in Uganda. The Zika Virus was first identified in Monkeys in 1947 and later in humans in 1952.
Once infected, it is a possibility that the Virus may remain in the male body for a period of 6 months and that in a female body for a period of 2 months. It is observed that the Virus Zika replicates itself in the male genital tract, hence lasting longer in a male body than in a female body.
Kelly Marry Stewart meeting virus zika
Zika virus ruined Kelly Marry Stewart, former Ryanair airhostess, a Hollyoaks star’s life too. It was in early 2016 that she shared with the world her sad story about her contact with the virus zika (mirror.co.uk). She told about how her 9 years back 2 weeks’ visit to Dominican Republic paid her off adversely. She not only lost the sensitivity in her legs due to zika fever but also lost her baby in the womb, she was diagnosed with Guillain Barre’s syndrome too. Although, she is completely fine now and has an awesome child, but forgetting that horrible incidence and experience won’t ever be possible for her (as per her). She urges pregnant ladies especially to never visit the places that are tested positive for this epidemic, the Zika Virus.
Zika virus symptoms
The incubation period, period between the infection of an individual by a pathogen and the manifestation of the illness or disease it causes, is believed to be a few days. The mosquito-borne disease is related to a large degree to the Dengue and the Yellow Fever. We have earlier published a detailed Dengue symptoms and cure tips. Hence, zika virus symptoms too correspond to these diseases to some degree. Some of its symptoms that can be seen or felt within a period of 2-7 days are
- Mild feverishness and skin rashes
- Conjunctivitis, muscle and joint pain
- Malaise or headache.
How Zika Virus is Transmitted ?
Virus Zika is primarily acquired by the bite of the mosquito Aedes or aedes mosquito, primarily active during the daytime or afternoon time. But once entering a human body, the zika virus transmission can happen through sexual intercourse too. It may be transmitted from an infected male to a woman during sexual intercourse, and by extension to the fetus if the mother conceives.
In such cases where the fetus inherits the virus from the mother, the Virus Zika has all the more pronounced and disturbing effects on the unborn child. In zika virus transmission, the baby may be affected by Microcephaly, a condition of abnormal smallness of the head and certain other brain defects like under developed brain or possible cognitive deficits, if the mother was infected with the Virus at the time of the pregnancy. If you are already a mother or have a newborn baby in your family, do read Breastfeeding tip for Child’s Health.
Zika Virus Treatment
As of yet, no vaccine is available for the prevention of or as zika virus treatment. But fortunately enough, the Zika fever, as such, is not a severe disease and hence does not require any special zika virus treatment. The normal zika virus symptoms can be cured with regular medication. There is no specific medicine for the treatment of Virus Zika per se. If the condition of the patient worsens, one should immediately approach a doctor or the healthcare provider.
Zika Virus Precaution
As they say, Prevention is always much and much better than Cure. What could possibly be a better precaution and the best zika virus treatment for this mosquito-born disease, than a considerably safe distance from the culprit, the aedes mosquito.
- Avoid going to the areas infected with the Zika Virus, as that is where the mosquitoes carrying the virus would be.
- Keep your surroundings clean so as to get rid of any potential breeding sites for the Aedes mosquito.
- Cover as much of the body as possible so that the mosquito bites can be prevented.
- Use ointments that are essentially mosquito repellent to keep you safe at the day time.
- Count on the mosquito nets to safely take you through the night.
- If you have travelled to a Zika Virus infected zone or been in contact with an infected person, either abstain from having sex altogether or practice safe sex and use condoms to avoid any chances of possible zika virus transmission.
Hope, you have collected the much required knowledge about this virus and will practice all the possible ways to fight it. Notice early zika virus symptoms. Take precautions, provide protection to your family and stay protected yourself.
